In addition to MOT Sanakirjat®, MOT Kielipalvelu® contains a wide selection of dictionaries by top Finnish and international publishers (for example Oxford University Press, Nationalencyclopedin, Duden, Le Robert, and Finnish Standards Association SFS) and a fine selection of the best dictionaries for Finnish. The service also includes MOT Kääntäjä® (data secure machine translation) and MOT Kielentarkistin® (useful proofreading and spellchecking).

A single user license for MOT Kielipalvelu® can be purchased online. It is a yearly subscription and the price is 263 € per year (incl. VAT 24%). For multiple user licenses, please contact our sales team at sales@kielikone.fi.

Companies can access MOT Kielipalvelu® either with a passcode, Microsoft account and/or via IP recognition depending on their contract. The access page for companies is at www.sanakirja.fi/organizations. Schools can access MOT Kielipalvelu® either with a login link, Haka login and/or IP recognition depending on the type of the educational organization in question. The access page for schools is at www.sanakirja.fi/schools. If you are not sure which mode of access is used at your organization, our customer service team is happy to help at support@kielikone.fi.

If you have accessed MOT Kielipalvelu® with a passcode, we will send you a yearly verification email for security reasons to make sure that you still have access to your organizational or school email. The email is sent from info@sanakirja.fi and you can safely click the link in the email.

When you look up words on the Dictionaries tab, you will get search results from the dictionary you’ve selected and you can choose from all the dictionaries in MOT Kielipalvelu®. When you look up words on the Languages tab, you will get search results from all dictionaries which contain the language pair you’ve selected, with the exception of Oxford University Press dictionaries.

You can look up words simultaneously in multiple dictionaries of your choice with the My Dictionary Group feature. Go to the Dictionaries tab and choose My Dictionary Group. You can edit the group by clicking the book icon and then selecting the dictionaries you want to use (with the exception of Oxford University Press dictionaries).

MOT Sanastot® is an optional, payable feature of MOT Kielipalvelu® which lets you add your own glossaries to supplement the dictionaries in the service. Search results found in your own glossaries are shown first when looking up words on the Languages tab.

The offline application is an optional, payable feature of MOT Kielipalvelu® which allows you to use the most popular dictionaries of MOT Sanakirjat® on a Windows 10 or 11 computer without an Internet connection. The app needs to go online every 30 days.

Yes, as a new user you get a free 1-month trial of MOT Sanakirjat®. The trial is non-binding and doesn’t turn into a subscription automatically.

Are you still on your free 1-month trial period? Your payment will process once your trial has ended. It’s also always worth to double check that your payment card hasn’t expired. Our customer service team is happy to help with any subscription issues at support@kielikone.fi.

You can change your subscription from monthly to yearly by first cancelling your current subscription at My account › Subscription status › Cancel subscription. After that head over to our Subscribe page and start a yearly subscription. The yearly payment won’t be charged until your current monthly subscription period has come to an end so there will be no overlapping payments.

MOT Kääntäjä® (Translator) and MOT Kielentarkistin® (Proofing) are features which do not belong to a MOT Sanakirjat® subscription. To get access to all features and dictionaries, contact our sales team (sales@kielikone.fi).

You can get MOT Sanakirjat® for your team of 2 - 4 users with a convenient monthly subscription. The price of the subscription is formed like this: 5,99 € for the first user and 4,10 € per each extra user (incl. VAT 24 %). The monthly payment is based on the highest number of team members from the previous month. The team subscription creator is able to manage the subscription in the MOT Sanakirjat® user interface: invite and delete users, end the subscription and delete the team.

The team subscription creator is automatically part of the team.

Go to My account › Transactions › Show receipt. if you need the receipt for other purposes, click Print and you can print the receipt or save it as a PDF file.

We offer the core vocabulary of our high-quality dictionaries in MOT Sanakirjat® for free for all users. The free version includes 46 languages and every language pair contains 6000 - 38 000 general language entries. You can start looking up words without signing up at www.sanakirja.fi. You can also access our MOT Word lists and Travel phrases. Logged in users can also create their own word lists.

This text appears on the front page below the search bar when you have logged in and have access to a paid version of the service: “You have MOT Sanakirjat®/MOT Kielipalvelu®”. Also, in the top right hand corner next to the 👤 icon you’ll see the text "Sanakirjat/Kielipalvelu".

You can have 5 different browsers logged into the service at the same time. When the number of sessions exceeds that, the oldest ones will be logged out.

If you haven’t logged in to the service, Sanakirja.fi detects your browser language and chooses the user interface language based on that. You can always change the language from the service’s footer and when you’re logged in, the service remembers the user interface language you chose.

Click Log in at the top right corner of the service and choose Forgot your password? from the menu. The link takes you to a form where you can request instructions for changing your password.

Have you checked your Junk mail as well as Promotions and Others tabs? Our emails can sometimes end up there. If the email doesn’t come through, you can also try again. Sometimes there can be a small delay in our email delivery.

The search results for some language pairs come from a multilingual dictionary called MOT Max. This dictionary has English as its core language which means that the definitions and usage examples are in English. You might get search results from MOT Max if no other dictionary has the language pair you’ve selected or the word you searched for.

Most pronunciation audios come directly from the browser but some languages come through the audio package of the operating system (voice package). If the audio button doesn’t appear for some language, add the language in question to your operating system and open Sanakirja.fi again. If the audio button doesn’t appear for any languages, make sure that you have turned on “Show audio” in the dictionary settings. You can access the settings by clicking on the ⚙️icon above the search bar.

You can delete your account from My account › Delete account.
